Social Networking

I just joined up to facebook and as soon as I joined I had friends. How could libraries use it? Prmoting events, learning programs, new books, bookclubs. You could have an Facebook Book Club. There probably are many applications if you are willing to commit the time and if you have determined what segment of your market uses this program.
Libraries could use it to suggest new innovations and see if other libraries are doing the same or what comments they have on the idea.

It is fun but time-consuming/wasting. I will have to see if any of my real friends are on it.

Wiki's - some are easier to use than others

Hello,

I went onto the Princeton public library wiki. I think they are a great idea. More public libraries should create and advertise the use of them. What a great way to market their stock and it is free. I think to get more people using them staff would have to be the first to add content and then everyone will come. It is great to read reviews, so much better than tag clouding. I have used some wikis, such as wikipeida, and it is much harder to use than wetpaint. It is not very user friendly at all. If libraries are going to use wikis as a form of networking with their customers it will have to be something that is easy to use.
I went onto Wikipedia and looked at my suburd and would have contributed to the pitiful amount there but I find it hard to use, not user-friendly at all, so I won't bother.

Tour de France-2009-Come on Cadel

I love the Tour de France. I have watched it for many years. I love the competition, the scenery, the whole sport. I love the cooking section at the beginning.

Cadel Evans is, so far, the best finishing rider Australia has produced, coming 2nd two years in a row. Is it 3rd time lucky? I hope so.

I will certaininly "Yell for Cadel". Michael Rogers is another contender but has had a bit of bad luck over the last few years. It could be his year.

If anybody has been to france during the tour, I would love to hear from you. It is something I am going to do in the future.

GO CADEL !!!!

L Plate

Hello
This is my first blog although I have read many beforehand.
I am hoping this L2TD will upskill me so that when people talk about Web2 I know what they are talking about, instead of nodding and wondering what they are talking about.

I am putting aside 1/2 an hour a week to do this.

I am glad my manager has approved this and will be encouraging everyone I know to do this course.

Thanks Mary
